John's research interests include the pricing of financial services, competition policy and financial and utility regulation.
Professor John Ashton is a Professor of Banking at Bangor University. John’s research focuses on banking, financial and economic regulation and the pricing of financial services. In addition to over 40 refereed journal article publications, this research work has been reported in a diverse assortment of publications and radio, ranging from the BBC, the Times Higher Educational Supplement to the Daily Star.
John is the Editor of the Journal of Financial Regulation and Compliance., is a member of the academic panel of the UK Competition and Markets Authority, is a Chartered Banking Fellow, has undertaken training for the Financial Conduct Authority and has made contributions to a diversity of policy fora in the UK and Europe. In addition to research work John teaches prudential regulation, personal finance, financial regulation and corporate governance and is the Academic Director for the Chartered Banker MBA; a highly successful, unique and ground breaking programme taken by over 500 bankers and financial regulators in the last 5 years.
